Pasture Fresh Eggs is an organic pasture based family farm in Petaluma CA. They write: “Our 6th generation farm is home to 300 organic milking cows as well as pasture raised laying hens. We priced our selves in being 100% organic and selling our quality products to our local food shed.
Our laying hens are truly pasture raised. With both mobile and stationary housing systems our hens live centrally located in large pastures. The hens are never locked in doors as we keep the houses open allowing 24 access to the field. We utilize high and tight fencing, guard dogs and fox lights to protect our flocks from predators.”
“Our hens have both indoor and outdoor feed and water. This, along with shade structures encourages outdoor living. We spend many hours observing a hens natural behavior and provide both dirt areas and grass areas for the birds environment. Dirt provides scratching and dusting areas which allow for healthy skin and natural behavior. Grass changes all year and gives hens a feed to graze, shelter and a material to scratch.”
“Our hens are also fed organic, non-gmo feed that is specifically made for their age. Our nutritionist puts the birds needs first when deciding what they need to eat. Their feed consists of all organic ingredients which include soy and corn. Starting in the spring of 2018 we will also offer a “soy free” egg from hens that do NOT receive Soybean products. This egg will be available at Wholefoods in Northern CA. We can also be found at select bay area Safeways.”
