The National Organic Cost Share Program pays part of the ever-rising certification costs for organic farmers. Congress authorized these payments last year, but the money has not been delivered.

Without this reimbursement, many small organic farms cannot afford to remain certified.

Raise your voice with us and our colleagues at the National Organic Coalition!

First, reach out to USDA. Use the form to let Under Secretary Fordyce and Administrator Beam know that delays in cost share payments are hurting our communities.

Then, reach out to your Senators and Representative to ask them to weigh in at the USDA.

Talking points:

  • I rely on small organic farms for some of the highest quality food I can find. But certification is expensive for these farmers, especially for those who must pay to certify their produce and livestock.
  • Cost share is essential for keeping many organic farmers in the system. I want this food available to me!
  • Cost share supports the organic market for everyone.
  • Cost share supports local food streams and helps my community get fresh food.
  • The organic seal offers me transparency in the food system. (Include a few personal details about why transparency is important to your health or your right to know how your food was produced.)
