A new voter opinion survey shows strong support for the California November ballot initiative that would require the labeling of genetically engineered foods.  Released by the California Business Roundtable and Pepperdine University, supporters for the measure, known as Proposition 37, outnumber its opponents by nearly three-to-one.

“Consumers deserve the right to know what is in their food,” says Mark Kastel, Cornucopia’s Senior Farm Policy Analyst.  More than 40 other countries, including all of Europe, Japan, and China, already require that foods with genetically engineered ingredients be labeled.
