Five-egg brands are at the top of the pecking order in terms of our 28 scoring criterion. And the brands, highlighted in gold, such as this one, are rotating their birds in mobile coops to the pasture. They are truly what we consider the "gold standard" in terms of certified organic egg production. We've invited them to write a bit about their farm and operation…

Sunnybrook Farm is a family farm in the Trout Lake Valley in Washington State. We grow fresh, local, nutritious food – not what you’re used to finding in a typical grocery store. We are committed to improving farming practices for the benefit of people, animals and the environment. We raise certified organic and Animal Welfare Approved eggs, and 100% grass-fed beef.

Life for the hens on Sunnybrook Farm is relaxing and peaceful. They are raised out in the sun on certified organic, green pasture. Our mobile coops allow us to move them to fresh pasture as needed, which gives them clean greens to eat and spreads their manure evenly in the fields. We have a Great Pyrenees guard dog who stays with the hens dayand night, which allows them to go freely in and out of the coop at any time, and never have to worry about predators. Their water is spring-fed and pure, it contains no chlorine or other treatments. Grasshoppers, bugs, leaves and other goodies from the pasture are the essential supplements to their diet of certified organic grains that makes the yolks such a deep orange. The hens especially enjoy spreading the cow pies from our grass-fed cattle! We think a hen’s life is better here, and their eggs are, too!
