Westsoy® started out as a small company, Westbrae Natural Foods, when a pair of idealistic students opened a coffeehouse in Berkeley. One of the foods they offered was imported soymilk from Japan.

Westsoy® was acquired in 1997 by the Hain Celestial Group, a multi-million dollar publicly traded company that owns many natural and organic food brands. The Hain Celestial Group also owns SoyDream®, another soymilk brand.
