The Horizon Organic brand is managed by White Wave Foods, a wholly‐owned subsidiary of Dean Foods, the largest dairy agribusiness in the United States. Dean Foods is a publicly owned corporation. Their eggs are distributed by the egg industry giant, Hidden Valley Ranches. On the East Coast, Horizon Organic eggs are produced by Braswell Foods of North Carolina, a vertically integrated industrial egg producer that also supplies organic eggs for Eggland’s Best and private label brands.

Dean Foods has been considered a bad actor in the dairy industry and is currently under scrutiny for improprieties by the Justice Department.

Much of their organic milk comes from factory farms with thousands of cows and their Horizon milk brand has been the subject of a boycott by the Organic Consumers Association and many retailers around the country.
