CI DARKAct[This action alert is now closed]

The U.S. Senate will be holding a hearing on Monsanto’s and Big Food’s dream bill to crush the right of states to require labeling of foods containing GMO ingredients. Dubbed by opponents the DARK (Deny Americans the Right to Know) Act, H.R. 1599 is being pushed as several states have passed legislation to enlighten consumers with labeling requirements.

Millions are being spent by Biotech and Big Food lobbyists to keep you uninformed.  The DARK Act would nullify over 135 existing state and local regulations that restrict the use of GMO crops or pesticides.

Take action to block this insidious move. A hearing will be held in the Senate on Wednesday, October 21. Call 888-894-1033 (toll free) to leave a message for your Senators and tell them you want them to oppose the DARK Act and to protect your right to know what is in your food.

If you are in the Washington, D.C. area, or are motivated for a road trip, the Truth in Labeling Coalition is also organizing two days of actions this coming Friday and Saturday. A focus on Friday will be Capitol Hill visits with U.S. Senators, with a big demonstration planned for Saturday.
